OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Looking to earn her third consecutive victory following a pair of stakes wins at Woodbine Racetrack, Flipcup is set to face some familiar foes in the $100,000 Bay Ridge Stakes at 1 1/16 Miles for New York-bred Fillies & Mares 3-years-old and up on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack.
Trained by of Hall of Famer Bill Mott, Flipcup earned her first graded stakes win last out while picking up a career high Beyer Speed Figure of 92 in the Grade 3 Maple Leaf Stakes at Woodbine on October 31. In her most recent start in New York at Saratoga Race Course, she finished third behind fellow entrant Star Grazing in the $100,000 Saratoga Dew.
The 5-2 second choice on the morning line, Flipcup will depart from post-position 3 with Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard for the first time.
Owner Mike Repole and trainer Todd Pletcher will enter Temper Mint Patty. A 3-year-old daughter of Congrats, she enters the Bay Ridge after setting the pace then faltering to finish seventh in the Grade 3 Comely at Aqueduct on November 28. Previously, she collected a pair of second-place finishes in the Empire Distaff Handicap at Belmont Park on October 24 and the Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks at Charles Town on September 19
