Before that was a nice win in the Group 2 Harwicke Stakes June 24 at Ascot, a sixth in the Group 1 Coronation Cup overseas June 2 and a fifth in the 2015 G1 Pattison Canadian International Stakes. In 2016. He also posted a win in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York August 17, a second in the Group 1 Irish Derby June 24 and consecutive thirds including the Group 1 Investec Derby June 4. Idaho has shown some serious form in the past and will be out to avenge a couple underwhelming results. Ryan Moore will be in the saddle of the morning line favorite from gate 4.

Defending Champion in this race at 12-1 odds - Francis-Henri Graffard Irish bred trainee has five wins, a second and a third-place finish in 16 career starts - some good results came in 2015 when he won the Group 1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris in July and the Group 3 Prix du Lys Longines in June. His North American debut was pretty impressive as well - his good win in the 2016 G1 Pattison Canadian International Stakes. He hasn't looked great in four starts since that win however - a fifth last time out in the G1 Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga August 26 followed a ninth in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud July 2, an OK fourth in the G1 Prix Ganay in May and a fourteenth in the G1 Japan Cup at Tokyo in November. Erupt has failed to hit the board in his last four starts overall and hopes to snap a skid Sunday. Jockey Junior Alvarado will be in charge of the second betting choice from post 9.

Irish bred Ralph Beckett trainee has placed in 12 of 13 career starts - five wins, six seconds and a third-place finish. He makes his North American debut Sunday on a nice two-race win streak - the Group 2 Toteplacepot September Stakes in England September 9 and a Handicap race July 14. Before that was a third in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot June 23 and a sixth and a second in a pair of Group 3 races this past spring. Chemical Charge has been competitive every time out and hopes his success overseas translates Sunday. Oisin Murphy has the mount on the morning line third choice from the outside gate 10.

French bred Patrick Gallagher trained gelding has been up and down in his career and enters this week in typically inconsistent form. Last time out was an OK third in the G2 Del Mar Handicap August 19 which followed a fourth in the G3 American Stakes at Santa Anita July 4 and a respectable second in the G3 All American Stakes at Golden Gate May 29. Other results include an ugly twelfth in the G2 San Luis Rey Stakes at Santa Anita March 25 and consecutive thirds - the G2 San Marcos Stakes at Santa Anita February 4 and the G2 Hollywood Turf Cup at Del Mar November 25. He also won the G2 San Marcos Stakes in February of last year and the 2016 San Gabriel Stakes at 46-1 odds last January but hasn't posted victory since. Flamboyant now has five wins, four seconds and eight third place finishes in 28 career starts, has been knocking on the door lately and will chase a first win in 20 months Sunday. He won the G3 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park in October, 2015 and has been good at times and bad at others since. Last time out was an OK but unlucky third in the G1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes on this track September 16 which followed another third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga July 21, a ninth in the G1 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth Park July 1, a third in the G3 Fort Marcy Stakes at Belmont Park May 6, a sixth in the G3 Red Smith Handicap at Aqueduct November 12 and a tenth in the G2 John Henry Turf Championship at Santa Anita October 2. Before that was a good win in the G2 Sky Classic at Woodbine August 21, 2016 and consecutive third place finishes - the G3 Arlington Handicap and the G3 Fort Marcy Stakes at Belmont Park last May. Before that were three straight seconds including the G3 Fair Grounds Handicap February 25, the G3 John B. Connally Turf Cup January 29 and the minor Tropical Park Derby. He also had wins in the minor Dueling Grounds Derby by 6 1/2 lengths last September 11, the 2016 G3 Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park and also won the minor Black Gold Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds February 27, 2016. He failed to place in his previous four starts including an eleventh in the minor Henry S. Clark Stakes at Laurel Park in April and a sixth in the G3 Sycamore Stakes at Keeneland in October. Postulation has been good lately, will try to flip the script on Oscar Nominated and will chase a third stakes win in four starts. Jorge Vargas will be in the irons from gate 6.
