Danzing Candy
Bob Baffert trained colt has five wins, a second and a third-place finish in 10 career starts. He made his stakes debut last March 12 and produced a terrific win by two lengths in the G2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita which followed an impressive 5 3/4 length gate-to-wire Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track February 4 of 2016. He went on to a disappointing fifteenth place finish in the 2016 Kentucky Derby and finished his 2016 campaign with an OK second in the G3 Affirmed Stakes at Santa Anita in July.
Danzing Candy was off for eight months before returning to a third-place finish in the minor Jo Hernandez Stakes at Santa Anita in March and a nice Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track May 5. His last two starts have produced two nice wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita May 5 and the G3 Lone Star Park Handicap by 4 3/4 lengths with a 207 Beyer Speed Figure last time out May 28 - both in gate-to-wire fashion. Danzing Candy has been seriously trending upward ahead of this week and shoots for a second straight graded stakes score from the rail. Mike Smith gets the call.
Ransom The Moon
Phil D'Amato trainee has four wins in 17 career starts with five seconds and a third-place finish. He made his stakes debut last time out and produced a very nice 2 1/4 length win with a career-best 103 Beyer Speed Figure in the G2 Kona Gold Stakes on this track May 20 after a dominant 4 1/2 length Allowance Optional Claiming score with a 98 Beyer Speed Figure at this distance here April 30. He also had a pair of runner-up finishes in Allowance Optional Claiming this past winter at Woodbine. Ransom the Moon has been very good lately and will be after a third straight win Saturday (second straight graded stakes) when he leaves from post 3 with Flavien Prat aboard.

Kobe's Back
Defending Champion and Peter Eurton trainee returned to the track for the first time in nine months on March 11 and finished fifth in the G1 Triple Bend Stakes here and followed that with a fourth last time out in the G2 Kona Gold Stakes on this track May 20. Before the layoff was a third in the 2016 Triple Bend Stakes, another third in the G3 Churchill Downs Stakes May 7, 2016 and consecutive wins - the G2 San Carlos Stakes last March 12 with a 106 Beyer Speed Figure and in the G2 Palos Verdes Stakes on this track in February, 2016. He also posted a seventh in the 2015 Breeders' Cup Sprint, a decent second in the G1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship October 3 that year, had an OK third in the G1 Bing Crosby Stakes in July, 2015 and a good win in the G3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland April 4, 2015.
Kobe's Back now has five wins, three seconds and four third place finishes in 22 career starts (three graded stakes scores on this track) and will be looking for his first win since last year's edition of this race. Gary Stevens has been tabbed to ride from the outside post 5.
Cool Cowboy
Started his career in North America in 2013/2014 with five wins and four seconds in 10 starts including three minor stakes scores. He took his act to the UAE where he produced some impressive results - an OK fifth last time out in the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen March 25 followed a second in a Group 2 race March 4 and a nice win in the Group 3 Al Shindagha Sprint in February. He now has eight wins, seven seconds and three third place finishes in 24 career starts and has placed in nine of 11 starts ahead of this weekend - competitive every time out. Cool Cowboy chases his first North American graded stakes score when he leaves from gate 4 with Joe Talamo aboard.
Coastline
Defending runner-up in this race - Phil D'Amato trainee has five wins, four seconds and three third place finishes in 24 career starts. He hasn't been all that great lately - a fourth last time out in the minor Siren Lure Stakes here April 23 followed another fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track March 31. He was off for nine months after an eighth in the G1 Triple Bend Stakes last June, a fourth in the G2 Kona Gold Stakes here last May 21, a second behind Kobe's Back in the 2016 San Carlos Stakes here March 12 and a nice win in the minor Clocker's Corner Stakes on this track January 24, 2016. He placed in just one of his last six starts overall and hopes for a first win in 17 months Saturday. Jockey Jamie Theriot will try to accomplish that goal from gate 2.
