Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity goes down at Del Mar in Southern California this Labor Day Monday, September 7. A group of two year olds will take to Del Mar's dirt track and race seven furlongs searching for the winner's share of the $300,000 purse.

Nyquist - has been perfect so far in his career for trainer Doug O'Neill - two starts and two wins. Last time was a terrific win as even money favorite in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes here August 8 against some of his Del Mar Futurity foes - by 5 1/4 lengths with an impressive 102 Beyer Speed Figure. It followed an impressive maiden score at first asking at Santa Anita in June. Nyquist hasn't been touched so far and hopes he won't be Monday. Swipe - has placed in all four career starts for trainer Keith Desormeaux with a win, two seconds and a third place finish. Last time out was a good second behind Nyquist in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes here August 8 after a good win in the minor Summer Juvenile Championship Stakes at Los Alamitos in July, a third in the minor Tremont Stakes at Belmont Park in June and a runner-up finish at first asking in May. Blameitonthelaw - impressive John Sadler trained colt has just one career start - one win. He posted that win on this track August 2 by an easy 4 1/4 lengths with a 97 Beyer Speed Figure and looks to make it 2-for-2 here when he departs from post 7 with Tyler Baze in the reins.
Mt Veeder - has just one career start for trainer Bob Baffert and it was a good one - a maiden score by 2 1/4 lengths on this track August 15. He hopes to make it two straight wins to start his career when he leaves from gate 4 with Martin Garcia in the saddle.

Annie's Candy - has four career starts for trainer Peter Miller and has placed in all - a win, two seconds and a third place finish. Last time out was a respectable third place finish behind Nyquist Swipe in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes on this track August 8 which followed a maiden score at Los Alamitos and a pair of runner-up finishes at Santa Anita to start his career. He has been good so far and will be after his first stakes score Monday - from gate 2 with Victor Espinoza aboard.
Rockin Bayou - will hit the track for the second time for trainer Jeff Mullins having posted a win in his only career start - on this track July 18. He will have Hall-of-Fame jockey Mike Smith trying to make it 2-for-2 to start his career from the outside gate 8 Monday.
Nightly News - Bob Baffert trained gelding will race for just the second time on Monday after a runner up finish in his only career start - on this track August 26. Rafael Bejarano has been tabbed with providing a breakthrough for Nightly News from the rail.
Archaeo - trainer Doug O'Neill sends out Archaeo for his second career starts Monday - the first being a fifth place finish here August 8. He hopes to make a little noise and to erase an unflattering effort in his debut when he leaves from gate 6 with James Graham guiding him.
