Hutcheson Stakes 2014 Contenders & Odds
Las Vegas, NV - Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida will be the scene of the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes on Saturday, February 1. A purse of $200,000 will be on the line for a group of three year olds willing to race seven furlongs on Gulfstream's main track.

Wildcat Red - had two wins to start his career - a MSW in September and an Allowance in October before a pair of good seconds in his last two starts - after winning and being disqualified to second for interference the minor Juvenile Sprint Stakes November 9 and by just a head in the minor Gulfstream Park Derby at 7-2 odds January 1 - all of the results coming on this track. She cuts back in distance Saturday looking to return to the winner's circle. Wildcat Red is just a head and a Marshall's decision away from being undefeated in her career - she is the one to watch in the Hutcheson. Javier Castellano gets the call from post 5.
Pablo Del Monte - Wesley Ward pupil won his first two career starts - a MSW and an Allowance at Keeneland before stepping up and finishing fifth in the Grade 3 Generous Stakes on grass at Hollywood Park November 30. Last time out was a fourth in the Gulfstream Park Derby here January 1 in his dirt debut. Paco Lopez gets the call.

C. Zee - is coming off a good second with a 90 Beyer Speed Figure in the minor Spectacular Bid Stakes on this track for trainer Stanley Gold after a MSW score in his second career start and a third in a MSW in his debut at Calder in September. He comes with a little hype for the Hutcheson and will have EJ Zayas in the saddle from post 4.
Mighty Brown - has an incredible 10 career starts already including his only two career wins - the minor Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay January 4 and a MSW on that same track December 7. Before those wins were a sixth in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot and a decent third in the Jean Lafitte Stakes in October. Last time out was a fifth in the OBC Sprint Stakes at Ocala Training Center January 21. Alan Garcia gets the call for the first time on Mighty Brown.

Long On Value - started his career with three straight wins for trainer Bill Mott including a pair of minor stakes races - the Jamestown Stakes at Colonial Downs and the Strike Your Colors Stakes at Delaware Park - both in July. His last two results haven't been great however - a sixth last time out in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park in October followed another sixth in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga in September. John Velazquez will be in the saddle hoping to get Long On Value back on track.
Vinceremos - has just two career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher - both MSW races at Gulfstream. Last time out was an impressive win January 4 after a second in his debut November 30. He has also been entered in the Sam F, Davis at Tampa Bay Downs on the same day.
Trail Blaze - Todd Pletcher trained colt is coming off a fourth in the minor Spectacular Bid on this track January 4 after a MSW score by an impressive 4 3/4 lengths with a 92 Beyer Speed Figure in his debut at Aqueduct November 20.
Tashir - has six career starts with two wins, a second and a third place finish - one of the wins coming last time out by an incredible 9 1/2 lengths in an Allowance at Calder January 17. He has two minor stakes races under his belt - a fourth in the Strike Your Colors Stakes in July and a third in the Whirling Ash Stakes in September - both results at Delaware Park. His win last time out has certainly opened some eyes.
Gambler's Ghost - Eddie Kenneally trained colt steps into stakes company for the first time Saturday after a five length MSW score here January 1 and a fifth in his debut - at Churchill Downs November 5.
Spot - will race for the fifth time for trainer James DiVito but his coming off his only win thus far - an 8 1/2 length MSW score at Hawthorne October 24. Before that was a fifth, a tenth and a second respectively in MSW races at Keeneland and Arlington Park.
