Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint is on tap for a very busy Santa Anita on Saturday, November 1. Some of the best fillies and mares in the land will take to Santa Anita's dirt track and dash seven furlongs in search of the winner's share of the $1 million purse and the honor of being called a Breeders' Cup champion.

Judy the Beauty 5-2 - six time Grade 1 runner-up Wesley Ward trained filly has eight wins, seven seconds and a third in 17 career starts and has won three of her last four starts - the Grade 1 Rancho Bernardo Stakes at Del Mar August 17, the Grade 1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland in April and a terrific 4 3/4 length win in the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes at Santa Anita March 9 - with a fourth in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff sandwiched in there. This after a very good second behind the fabulous Groupie Doll in last year's Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. Judy the Beauty has been in the money every time out except for that fourth two starts back, has won three of her last four starts overall and is the morning line favorite. Sweet Reason 9-2 - has three Grade 1 scores in nine career starts - five wins, two seconds and a third place finish overall. Her only off-the-board finish was a fourth beaten by only two lengths in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She started her career with two wins - the best of which came in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes by 5 3/4 lengths at Saratoga last September and followed that with a second behind the terrific Untapable in the Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont Park in October before her BC attempt. Last time out was an OK second in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx September 20 after a good win in Grade 1 Test Stakes, a score in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park June 7, a third in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct April 5 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score March 7. Sweet Reason will have Irad Ortiz in the saddle from the rail as the morning line second choice.

Artemis Agrotera 3-1 - Michael Hushion trainee is coming off three straight wins -the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom last time out at Belmont Park, the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes by an eye-opening 6 1/2 lengths August 23 and by an impressive 10 1/4 lengths in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 23. This after a disappointing eighth in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes in June, an equally disappointing fifth in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and a win in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes over Sweet Reason at Belmont Park last October 6. She has five wins in seven career starts and has looked unstoppable the last three races. Jose Ortiz rides as Artemis Agrotera from post 5.
Leigh Court 4-1 - 2013 Sovereign Award winner as Canada's Champion 3 Year Old Filly was terrific last year winning three straight races in the summer including the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes at Woodbine in August. She ended her 2013 campaign with a somewhat disappointing fourth in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup and was forced out of action for over 10 months. Leigh Court made a successful return to the track August 24 and won the Grade 3 Seaway Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths at Woodbine in her first start of 2014 and won again last time out in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland October 4. Leigh Court has won five of her last six starts overall and hopes to keep the roll going in only her third start this year. Gary Boulanger rides from post 6.

Stonetastic 8-1 - has eight career starts for trainer Kelly Breen with three wins, a second and three third place finishes. She enters off an OK third in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland October 4 after a nice two race win streak - by an impressive 8 1/2 lengths in wire-to-wire fashion in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga August 30 and an Allowance Optional Claiming by 6 3/4 lengths in July. They followed a pair of thirds - the minor Ginger Brew Stakes in January and the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs in November. Stonetastic has been competitive in every career start and should be again Saturday after posting a field-best 105 Beyer Speed Figure two starts back. Paco Lopez gets the call from post 3.
Living the Life 12-1 - Irish bred filly has 21 career starts with seven wins, four seconds and two third place finishes for trainer Gary Mandella and enters on a tidy three race win streak. Last time out was a win in the Grade 2 Presque isle Downs Maters September 8 after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Del Mar in August and a stakes in Europe in April. She hasn't been touched in her last three starts and hopes to carry that momentum to this weekend. Rafael Bejarano has the call from post 9.
Little Alexis 15-1 - has just four career starts for trainer Carlo Vaccarezza - two wins a third and a fourth place finish which came last time out in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx September 20. Before that was a respectable third in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga August 2 after wins in the minor Cash Run Stakes at Gulfstream Park July 5 and a maiden score at first asking. She has looked good in her limited action and will have Joel Rosario in the reins from gate 2.
Better Lucky 15-1 - Thomas Albertini trained mare won the minor Shine Again Stakes over Grace Hall and My Miss Aurelia July 21 and went on to an OK fourth in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 23. Last time out was a second in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland October 4. In June she had an ugly eighth in the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes at Belmont Park. Before that Better Lucky placed in eight straight starts and has six wins, four seconds and five third place finishes in 19 career starts overall. In April Better Lucky had a second behind Judy the Beauty in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland in her first start of 2014 after finishing 2013 with a third in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park, a terrific win in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes in October and a third in the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes in September. Better Lucky has two Grade 1 scores in her career and has been competitive every time out the last couple of years, except for on bad outing four back. She will have Javier Castellano in the reins from gate 8 .
Thank You Marylou 20-1 - was good in her first four races for trainer Michael Maker - two wins, a second and a third place finish. She debuted in July with a nice win in the minor Tippett Stakes at Colonial Downs and followed that with a very respectable second in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga last August. After seven months away she returned to action with a win in the minor Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream March 9 and followed that with a third in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland April 5. She has been up and down since - a fifth in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes in April was followed by a seventh in the Grade 3 Iowa Oaks, a sixth in the Grade 1 Test Stakes, a nice win in the Grade 3 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs September 20 and a third last time out in the Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland October 18. Southern Honey 20-1 - George Arnold trained filly has eight career starts with three wins, two seconds and a third place finish. She enters off a good second in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland October 4 after a third in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga August 30, an ugly ninth in the Grade 1 Test Stakes and a nice three race win streak including her stakes debut - the Grade 3 Winning Colors Stakes at Churchill Downs May 26. Before that was an Allowance Optional Claiming score in May and a maiden victory in April. Southern Honey has been trending upward ahead of this race and looks for her first Grade 1 score with Julien Leparoux aboard from the outside post.
