Kauai Katie - impressive Todd Pletcher trained filly hit the track for the first time since an uber-disappointing sixth in the Grade 1 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga way back on July 27 and finished a good second to La Verdad in the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct April 19. She had a third in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park in May, 2013 before her career worst sixth. She has won six of 10 career starts including the Matron Stakes at Belmont Park September 30 and the Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga August 12 before that. She was an OK fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in November, 2012 but went on a run after that - three straight wins in 2013 include the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes January 1, the Grade 2 Forward Gal Stakes January 26 and the minor Road Princess Stakes in gate-to-wire fashion April 21 at Aqueduct. She hopes to get back to her early 2013 form and build on a good result last time out. Irad Ortiz rides from post 4 as the overwhelming 3-5 morning line favorite.
Five Star Momma - had consecutive seconds - to Groupie Doll in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie and the minor Willa On the Move Stakes at Laurel Park December 28 before an OK third last time out after setting the pace in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 22. She had three straight wins (two minor stakes) to close out her 2013 campaign and enters this weekend in career best form - three wins, two seconds and a third in her last six starts overall. Jose Ortiz will be in the saddle from gate 5 in the Vagrancy as the 3-1 second choice on the morning line.
