2014 Demoiselle Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Angela Renee - Todd Pletcher trained filly has five career starts already with two wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was a disappointing tenth as favorite in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies after a terrific win in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita in September, a third behind Condo Commando in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga August 31 and a second in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes also at Saratoga August 10. She is the most experienced of all the entries for the Demoiselle, is the 2-1 morning line favorite, and will leave from post 7 with John Velazquez aboard.

Jacaranda - Michael Hushion trained filly will look to remain perfect in her career - she has two starts and two impressive wins. Last time out it came in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes on this track November 2 after a maiden score at Belmont Park September 1. Jose Ortiz has been tabbed to keep the roll going aboard the 7-2 second choice from the outside post.

Demoiselle Stakes 2014 | Remaining Contenders

Gap Year - Kiararn McLaughlin trained filly has a win and a third place finish in three career starts - the win coming last time out in a MSW at Keeneland October 23. Before that was a seventh in her stakes debut - the Grade 1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes October 3 and a third in her career debut August 11. She looks to make it two wins in a row with Irad Ortiz guiding her from post 5 at 4-1 on the morning line.

Condo Commando - has three career starts for trainer Rudy Rodriguez with two wins in her first two career starts. She debuted with a Maiden Claiming score August 3 and followed that with an impressive win in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga August 31 - those two wins coming by a combined 25 1/2 lengths. Last time out was a bit of a hiccup - a fourth as favorite in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park October 4. She has been very competitive so far and is expected to be again Saturday. Joel Rosario has the call aboard the intriguing 5-1 shot from post 6.

Quezon - Robert Ribaudo trained filly has looked good in her two career starts - a win in her stakes debut last time out - the minor Maid of the Mist Stakes at Belmont Park October 18 followed a good maiden score at first asking September 17. Manuel Franco will be in the saddle looking to keep the upward trend going at 5-1 odds from post 3.

Calamity Kate - will race for just the fifth time for trainer Kelly Breen having won just one of her four starts. Last time out was a distant ninth in the Grade 1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland October 3 after a maiden score at Belmont Park in September and a fourth and a seventh respectively in her first two starts. She didn't look good in her graded stakes debut - Paco Lopez hopes to change that from post 2 at 12-1 on the morning line.

Save Rock and Roll - won her first career start - at Monmouth Park in August and went on to a fifth in the minor Sorority Stakes on that same track four weeks later. She has since raced two graded stakes - a third last time out in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes on this track followed a fourth in the Grade 2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park October 5. She has been OK in her career but looks for her first stakes win at 20-1 odds from gate 4 with Cornelio Velasquez in the irons.

My Cara Mia - Mitchell Freidman trained filly has three career starts with just one win - a maiden score at first asking September 5. Since then she has raced two graded stakes and failed to place in either. Last time out was a sixth in the minor Chelsea Flower Stakes at Belmont Park October 25 after a seventh in the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes on that same track September 28. She looks to break through in graded stakes company but enters in less-than-spectacular form. Luis Saez rides the 30-1 longest shot in the field from the rail.
