2013 Frank E Kilroe Mile Race Favorites
Fed Biz - Bob Baffert trained colt has four wins in nine career starts including the Grade 2 San Fernando Stakes January 12 on this track over Tritap and Guilt Trip. Last time out was an OK third in the Grade 2 Strub - he was a tad out of his element going the longer distance. Last year he had two wins coming at one mile - the El Cajon Stakes August 31 at Del Mar followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track back in February. Three back was a disappointing sixth in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes to follow an eighth in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and an OK third in the Grade 2 Indiana Derby October 6. He has won three of six starts at Santa Anita but will try turf for the first time Saturday - interesting!
Suggestive Boy - made his US debut after three straight wins in Grade 1 races in Argentina with a very good second in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile on June 30. He followed that with a win in the Wickerr Stakes on July 25 and a pair of fifth place finishes in a pair of Grade 1 races - the Pacific Classic Stakes and the Awesome Again Stakes here in September. Last time out was an incredible win in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes here February 2 after a pedestrian seventh in the Breeders' Cup Mile on this track in November. Minus a poor Breeders' Cup, Suggestive Boy has been fairly impressive as of late.

Kilroe Mile Stakes and the Grade 2 American Handicap and was fourth in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile at Hollywood Park on June 30. Mr. Commons last raced to a fifth in the Breeders' Cup Mile and hasn't won since February - something that trainer John Sherreffs hopes to change Saturday.
Wilkinson - ran sixth in the Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes at Keeneland in April and followed that with a very nice win in the Grade 2 American Handicap at Hollywood Park on May 29. After seven months away, he returned to a fifth in the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes in December and was a very good second last time out in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes here February 2. He has five wins, four seconds and three third place finishes in 20 career starts but has been up and down the last two years.
Silentio - made his stakes debut with a terrific win in the Grade 2 Sir Beaufort Stakes at Santa Anita December 26 after three prior career starts resulted in two wins and a close third place finish in an Allowance Optional Claiming race here October 12. Akkadian - is coming off an OK fourth in the Arcadia Stakes here after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Santa Anita January 10 and a fifth in a similar race December 8 at Hollywood Park. Vagabond Shoes - Irish bred gelding raced in North America for the first time for trainer John Sadler last time out in the Grade 2 Arcadia after six wins, two seconds and three third place finishes in 20 starts overseas. He has raced just two graded stakes - that sixth last time out and a ninth in the Grade 2 American Derby in July of 2011 but he has been very, very good in minor stakes action the last 14 months.
