Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Ballerina Stakes is on tap for this Monday, October 14 from Hasting Racecourse in gorgeous Vancouver, British Columbia. A purse of $100,000 will be on the line for fillies and mares three years old and upward willing to go 1 1/8 miles on Hastings dirt track.

2013 Ballerina Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Miss Derek - is coming off an OK third as favorite in the minor British Columbia Oaks September 8 after two minor stakes wins on this track - the Hong Kong Jockey Club Handicap August 18 and the Supernatural Handicap in July. She has three wins in 14 career start - all of those coming in her last five starts overall to go along with a second and four third place finishes. She has had success against older foes in the past and is likely the favorite to avenge a loss in the British Columbia Oaks Monday.

Cry Cry Cry - enters the Ballerina on a four race win streak, all of which have come on this track - the minor Ladies Express Stakes last time out being the best score. She has 27 career starts with five wins, eight seconds and two third place finishes but has been superb all summer. She has 30 career starts with 12 wins, only one stakes score. Wando Woman has looked very good in the leadup to this weekend but takes a huge step up in competition this week. She will be ridden by Scott Williams, the second-leading jockey at the current Hastings meet ad figures to be in the Mix Monday.

Madeira Park - is coming off a nice upset win the minor Delta Colleen Handicap at this distance here September 8 after a third in the City of Edmonton Distaff August 17 and a second in the minor Mademoiselle Handicap August 2. She has placed in her last four minor stakes appearances with one win but steps into graded stakes company for the first time Monday.

Wando Woman - enters this weekend having finished second in three straight minor stakes races - the Delta Colleen behind Madeira Park last time out September 8, the Emerald Distaff at Emerald Downs August 18 and the British Columbia Cup Distaff August 5 after failing to place in two previous stakes starts. Trainer Cindy Krasner taps leading Hastings rider Amadeo Perez for the return call.

Saturday Night Ride - has raced all over Western North America with some decent results. Last time out was a third as favorite behind Madeira Park and Wando Woman in the Delta Colleen Handicap at Northlands Park September 8 after three straight wins including two minor stakes scores at Northlands Park and an Allowance win on this track in June. Her other career win was a MSW at Santa Anita in February. Saturday Nite Ride has nine career starts with four wins and three third place finishes but steps up in graded stakes company for the first time Monday.

Castinette Dancer - had an Allowance Optional Claiming score in April on this track but has struggled a tad since. She enters this weekend off a pair of fifths - the Ladies Express Stakes last time out September 2 and an Allowance August 18 after an OK third in the minor Monashee Handicap July 1. Castinette Dancer has six wins, five seconds and three third place finishes in 22 career starts.

Locket - most recently finished second ahead of Miss Derek in the British Columbia Oaks at 9-1 odds here September 8 after a couple of other decent showings in minor stakes action - a third in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Handicap August 18 and a second in British Columbia Cup Dogwood Handicap August 8. Locket has 12 career starts with two wins, three seconds and two third place finishes but races in graded stakes company for the first time Monday.

Touching Promise - has nine career starts - all on this track with one win, one second and two third place finishes. She recorded a MSW score June 30, finished third in the minor British Columbia Cup Dogwood Handicap, fourth in the minor Hong Kong Jockey Club Handicap August 18 and last time out was fifth in the minor British Columbia Oaks September 8.

Dashing Daisy - won the minor British Columbia Cup Distaff here August 5 for her only win this year and followed that with a fourth last time out in the City of Edmonton Distaff Handicap two weeks later. She has 42 career starts already in her career with 14 wins, 12 seconds and two third place finishes but has just three wins in the last two years. Dashing Daisy finished third in this race in 2011 - her only graded stakes starts and despite a nice win two back is not expected to seriously challenge this weekend.

Rainbowsinthewood - has 39 career starts all on this track with six wins, seven seconds and seven third place finishes but Monday marks her graded stakes debut. She won a Claiming here May 26 but since has failed to place in four starts - all Claiming races. She steps up in company Monday in sketchy form.

Lady Henrietta - will make her graded stakes debut Monday after 11 career starts against lesser competition, all on this track yielded three wins, four seconds and three third place finishes. She made her stakes debut last October - an eighth in the minor Fantasy Stakes and raced in stakes company again July 1 finishing a respectable third in the minor Supernatural Handicap. She followed that with an Allowance score and a second in an Allowance respectively. Lady Henrietta is used to being near the top but Monday is a huge step up in competition.

Terlani - has seven starts this year with just one win - an Allowance score on this track June 23. She was fifth in this race last year and has placed in five of eight starts since. Last time out was her worst result in a while - a sixth in the minor Delta Colleen Stakes September 8 after a second in an Allowance and a fourth in the minor Mademoiselle Handicap August 2. She has 34 career starts with 10 wins, six seconds and five third place finishes.
