Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Swale Stakes comes our way from Gulfstream Park in beautiful Hallandale, Florida this Saturday, March 2. The race will feature three year olds as they chase their share of the $150,000 purse over seven furlongs on Gulfstream's dirt track.
The Swale Stakes has attracted a large field of 13 three year olds for race 10 on Gulfstream's Saturday card. Post time is 5:35 PM. Here is a look at the past performances of all 13 combatants for this Grade 3 race.
2013 Swale Stakes Race Favorites
Forty Tales - Todd Pletcher pupil started two-for-two in his career including an Allowance score January 5 at Parx and a MSW score at Aqueduct November 24. Last time out was a very nice second in the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes as 9-5 favorite here February 2. If Merit Man pulls out Forty Tales could be the one to watch. He is the morning line favorite and will be looking to better a good second last time out.
Gombey Dancer - has just two MSW starts in his career - a win by three lengths last time out here February 3 followed a second in his debut at Saratoga in August. He is the second choice despite being largely untested so far.

Merit Man - was two-for-two to start his career -the Tim Conway Stakes October 6 by 5 1/2 lengths and a maiden score in his debut at Del Mar in September. Since then he has been equally as good - a nice second by a nose as 1-2 favorite in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint three back was followed by yet another win in the $100,000 Spectacular Bid Stakes at Gulfstream January 1. Last time out was his worst career performance - a fourth in the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes here February 2. Merit Man has three wins, a second by a nose and a fourth place finish in five career starts - he will be looking for a strong bounce back this week but there are whispers he may scratch after drawing post 2 - stay tuned!
Undrafted - has five career starts with two wins and three third place finishes. The thirds came in stakes action - last time out in the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes here on February 2, the Gulfstream Park Derby January 1 and at the Willard L. Proctor Memorial four back at Hollywood Park. The wins came three back in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream and a MSW score in his debut at Keeneland April 26. Undrafted makes his first start on dirt Saturday.
Res Judicata - won the minor Christopher Elser Memorial Stakes at Parx two back in just his third career start and followed that with another nice result - a second last time out in the minor Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes also at Parx December 8. He now has two wins and that second in his four career starts for trainer John Servis.
Nevada - has six career starts with a win, two seconds and a third place finish. Last time out was a second in a Starter Optional Claiming here February 6 after a Maiden Claiming score on this track January 20.

Little Distorted - Darrin Miller trained colt broke maiden October 28 at Belmont Park and was a nice third - in the minor Spectacular Bid Stakes behind Merit Man at Gulfstream January 1. Last time out was an ugly seventh in his only other career start - and Allowance Optional Claiming here February 9.
Clearly Now - has four career starts with two wins to start his career and two thirds in his last two - last time out in Grade 3 Holy Bull here January 26 at 42-1 odds and the minor Display Stakes December 1.
Are You Kidding Me - has six career starts for trainer Roger Attfield. After a pedestrian start to his career Are You Kidding Me won two straight before an impressive second in the Grade 2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine September 15. Last time out was an unflattering fifth in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity October 6 at Keeneland.
Dighton - has 12 career starts with just one win, four seconds and three third place finishes. Saturday marks his graded stakes debut after a fifth last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming here and a pair of thirds. He broke maiden seven back but has three fifths, two thirds and a second place finish since.
Tulira Castle - made his stakes debut with a distant ninth in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes last time out on this track January 26 after two wins and two seconds in four career starts. He alternated wins and seconds in his first four starts.
Triple Cross - had three wins and two second place finishes in his first five career starts and followed that with an OK third two back in the Fitz Dixon memorial Juvenile at Presque Isle Downs way back in September. Last time out was a disappointing eighth in the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs October 28.
Singanothersong - has nine career starts with two wins, three seconds and two third place finishes with his most impressive result coming in September - a third place finish in the Birdonthewire Stakes at Calder. Singanothersong had a wire-to-wire $75 K Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream January 4 to follow a third in a similar race at Gulfstream December 15 but was a disappointing sixth most recently in the Grade 2 Hutcheson February 2.
