The best sprinters in the world, three years old and upward will take to Santa Anita's dirt track and go six furlongs for the winner's portion of the $1.5 million purse.

2013 Breeders' Cup Sprint Race Favorite Entries

Private Zone - Canadian bred Doug O'Neill entry had a string of four straight second place finishes including the Grade 3 Vernon Underwood, the Grade 1 Malibu and the Grade 2 Palos Verses in January end with a ninth in the Grade 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen in March. He has since won two straight races - the minor Pirate's Bounty Stakes at Del Mar September 4 and the Grade 1 Vosburgh Invitational last time out at Belmont Park September 28. His recent form has impressed - enough to make him the 3-1 favorite on the morning line. He will have Martin Pedroza in the saddle from post 7.

Justin Phillip - multiple graded stakes winner and Steve Asmussen trainee ended 2012 with a fifth in the Breeders' Cup Sprint behind Trinniberg and started 2013 with an OK third in the Grade 2 Palos Verdes. He looked good in the spring in a pair of races at Oaklawn Park posting wins in an Allowance Optional Claiming and the Grade 3 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap over the scorching Gentlemen's Bet. He followed that with three more placings in four starts including a great win in the Grade 1 Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga August 4. Last time out was a good second behind Private Zone in the Grade 1 Vosburgh September 28 after a third in the Grade 3 Forego August 31. He has placed in six of his last seven starts with three wins and is the second choice on the morning line at 4-1 odds. He departs from the rail with John Velazquez aboard.

Street Circle - Bob Baffert trained colt won five of seven starts in 2012 with two seconds to go along with it - the highlights being wins in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes in February of 2012 and in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes in March 2012. He has just one start in 2012 - an Allowance Optional Claiming score here October 14 after 14 months away. He has placed in all eight career starts with six wins and looks to get back into the graded stakes winners' circle this week. He leaves from post 9 with Martin Garcia in the saddle Saturday.

Fast Bullet - D. Wayne Lukas trained colt has only six career starts - an OK sixth in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Sprint was followed by two straight wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Hollywood Park December 6 and a nice win in the Grade 2 True North Handicap at Belmont Park June 8 - his first ever stakes win. Last time out was a disappointing seventh August 31 in the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga. Fast Bullet has four wins in six career starts and will be looking to bounce back from an ugly effort last time out. He is 6-1 on the morning line and lines up in post 8 with Joel Rosario guiding him.

Gentlemen's Bet - won five of his first six career starts with a third in the Grade 3 Count Fleet Sprint at Oaklawn Park April 13 being the only blemish over that span. Since the streak he has two starts - a third in the Grade 1 Vanderbilt at Saratoga August 4 and a fourth last time out in the Grade3 Ogden Phoenix at Keeneland October 4 - the only time he hasn't finished in the money. He will have Javier Castellano in the reins from post 3 and is 8-1 on the morning line.

Trinniberg - defending Eclipse Award winner for Male Sprinter and defending champion In this race Trinniberg hasn't exactly been the same in 2013. Last time out was a disappointing seventh in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship here October 5 after a good result - a second in the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder July 6 and an ugly seventh in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes May 4. A trip to Dubai earlier this year did not go so well either - an eleventh in the Grade 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen in March. In 2012 he did finished a brutal seventeenth in the Kentucky Derby to follow up a pair of wins- the Grade 3 Bay Shore and the Grade 3 Swale Stakes and he won the Grade 2 Woody Stephens Stakes. He has placed in just one of his last four starts and is 8-1 on the morning line for his title defense. Rajiv Maragh gets the call from post 11.

Bahamian Squall had the biggest win of his career - the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder July 6 and followed that with a good second in the Grade 1 Vanderbilt Handicap August 4. Last time out was a disappointing fifth in the Grade 1 Vosburgh at Belmont Park September 28. He started his year with a second in the Sunshine Millions Sprint to Off the Jak in January and followed that with an OK third in the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint in February. Bahamian Squall has four wins, five seconds and a third place finish in 14 career starts and will be looking to regain the consistent form that saw him finish first or second in five straight to end last year. He is listed at 10-1 odds and departs from post 6 with Luis Saez aboard.

Sum of the Parts - Thomas Amoss trained colt is coming off a good repeat win in the Grade 3 Ogden Phoenix Stakes at Keeneland October 4 - the only time he's placed in four starts this year. He finished fourth in this race last year after four wins and a second preceded it. He enters this year in sketchy form although his win last time out is reason for some optimism. He leaves from post 5 at 12-1 odds with Leandro Goncalves guiding him.

The Lumber Guy - previously impressive Lumber Guy has 11 career starts with four wins including last year's Vosburgh September 29, the Grade 2 Jerome Stakes on April 21, 2012, last year's Miracle Wood Stakes on February 25 and a Maiden Special Weight race in January 2012. He was a close second to Trinniberg in last year's Breeders' Cup Sprint but hasn't been the same since - a pair of sevenths in graded stakes followed the Breeders' Cup - then a six month layoff. He returned August 23 to a second in the minor Chowder's First Stakes at Saratoga and most recently finished seventh in the Grade 1 Vosburgh. Despite success in this race The Lumber Guy is 8-1 on the morning line. He leaves from post 2 at 12-1 odds with Mike Luzzi aboard

Majestic Stride - Jeff Bonde trained gelding has five career starts with three wins and a second place finish and enters on a two race win streak - both Allowance races with the last coming on this track October 6. His only graded stakes start resulted in a fifth January 20, 2012 in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes. He is 20-1 on the morning line and departs from post 4.

Laugh Track - Mark Casse trained gelding has placed in eight of nine career starts and is coming off a second in the Grade 3 Ogden Phoenix Stakes at Keeneland October 4 after a nice win in the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes at Woodbine in June. He has four wins, three seconds and a third place finish and is 20-1 on the morning line for the Breeders' Cup Sprint. Laugh Track will have Mike Smith in the saddle from the far outside post.

Wine Police - returned August 1 to a win in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar after a 20 months away. Before the layoff he finished third in two of his three graded stakes starts with an ugly eight in the Grade 1 Malibu directly before the layoff. Last time out was a win in the minor Remington Park Sprint September 29 after an OK fourth in the Grade 2 Pat O'Brien at Del Mar August 25. He is the longest shot in the field at 30-1 odds and leaves from post 10.
