E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine
Las Vegas, NV - Woodbine Race Track just outside Toronto Ontario will be the scene of the lucrative Grade 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes this Sunday, October 14. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be after their share of the very nice $1 million purse when they go 1 1/4 miles on Woodbine's turf track.
The E.P. Taylor has attracted a field of 13 females for race 8 on Woodbines' stacked Sunday schedule. Post time is 4:38 PM. Here is a brief glimpse into the past performances of all 13 entries and what brought them to this million dollar Grade 1 Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" stakes.
2012 E.P. Taylor Stakes Race Favorites
Siyouma - is a Group 1 winner at Newmarket last month and has one win at this distance in her 9 race career. In seven starts this year Siyouma has two wins and three third place finishes but her win last time is enough to have made her the morning line favorite for the E.P. Taylor.
Dream Peace - has raced all around the world with mixed results - four wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 14 career starts. Last time out was a decent third in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl Invitational to follow a very good second in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga July 28 and a pair of pedestrian results overseas. Dream Peace also had a third as 2-1 favorite in last year's E.P. Taylor Stakes to prove that she will not be out of her league in this one.
E.P. Taylor Stakes 2012 | Remaining Field Entries
Princess Highway - had three straight wins in Ireland between March and June of this year but is coming off a seventh in a Grade 1 Stakes race at Longchamp on September 16 after a decent third in the Darley Irish Oaks July 22. She had looked great before an uncharacteristic outing last time out.
Barefoot Lady - Irish bred filly made her North American debut last time out with an impressive upset win in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes here September 16 after 18 starts in Ireland yielded just four wins, two seconds and three third place finishes.
All Star Heart - had streaks of three straight wins and five wins in six races that ended in June when she was an uber-disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 Royal Heroine July 7. All Star Heart shook that poor result by finishing second by a nose to City to City in the Grade 2 John C. Mabee Stakes at Del Mar on August 12 and followed that with another second last time out in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes behind Barefoot Lady. She has six career victories in 19 starts.
Stars to Shine - won the Trillium Stakes and the Grade 3 Ontario Matron Stakes here on July 22 but followed that with a very disappointing ninth in the Grade 1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington Park on August 18. Last time out was a third in the Canadian Stakes behind the two horses previously mentioned. Stars to Shine has six wins, a second and three third place finishes in 13 career starts and will be hoping to regain the form that saw her win two straight to start 2012.

Kapitale - will make only her third start in North America after the first one resulted in an OK fourth in the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park August 18 and the second resulted in another fourth in the Canadian Stakes here September 16. She had two wins in six starts in Europe but she also had an eleventh and a sixth in those starts.
Kissable - Irish bred filly made her North American debut in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly here and finished fifth but followed that with a win in the minor Richmor Aviation Waya Stakes at Saratoga August 6. Last time out was a decent third in the Grade 3 Glens Falls Stakes at Saratoga September 3.
Havant - French import won her first two career starts and followed those with a couple of unimpressive results. Her last two starts have been better however - a pair of seconds in Allowance races in her native France. Sunday marks Havant's first North American start.
Vamo a Galupiar - had some success in her native Chile and has four wins in seven career starts. She finished a disappointing sixth in the Buena Vista Stakes lately but before that was impressive in winning the Megahertz Stakes at Santa Anita January 21. She also has a win in the Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes this year but followed that with another disappointing result - a sixth last time out in the Grade 2 Santa Barbara. She has certainly been up and down this year but when up she has been very good.
Pagera - is another of the French invaders that is coming off an impressive score last time out in the Grade 3 Baden Racing Mercedes-Benz Stuten-Preis. She has two wins in seven starts this year and three in 13 career starts.
Moment of Majesty - won the Zadracarta Stakes at 16-1 odds on June 16 and followed that up with a good second in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes here on July 8. She recorded another victory on this track in the minor Belle Mahone Stakes August 19 but was a disappointing seventh last time out in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes. She had looked great this year before her most recent start and is an intriguing entry at 20/1.
Trois Lunes - has six career starts with two wins, a second and a third place finish and is coming off a third in a Group 2 Stakes at Deauville last time out.
