Gulfstream Oaks Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Las Vegas, NV -- The $300,000 Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks Stakes comes our way this Saturday, March 31st from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida as part of Florida Derby Day. The Gulfstream Oaks is just one of seven graded stakes races on the schedule and features three year old fillies willing to go 1 1/8 miles on Gulfstream's main dirt track.
A very competitive field of only five have been confirmed for race 10 on Gulfstream's packed Saturday card with a post time of 5:03 PM ET. The race serves as an intriguing rematch between the 1-2 finishers at the recent Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes here on February 25th and six others trying knock off the two considered to be the class of the field.
Here is a list of the entries and the credentials that brought them to the Gulfstream Park Oaks.
Gulfstream Oaks Stakes Race Favorites
Grace Hall - Grace Hall has to be considered one of the favorites in this race having won three of her five career starts - the only losses being Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes on February 25th to fellow Gulfstream Oaks contender Yara and the Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies to eventual Eclipse Award winner Miss Aurelia. Her wins include Blue Hen Stakes at Delaware and an impressive win at the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga. Grace Hall will be looking for revenge against Yara and has the talent to get it done.

Yara - Yara came out of nowhere and won the Davona Dale Stakes on February 25th but failed to place in her other race this year - a fourth at the Grade 2 Forward Gal Stakes at Gulfstream. Last year Yara won the Joe O'Farrell Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Calder in November but has only three wins in six career starts.
Remaining Field Entries
Captivating Lass - has two wins in four career starts and was third last time out to Yara and Grace Hall in the Davona Dale Stakes. Her most recent win came in the Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct on January 7th. But sandwiched between her wins is a disappointing seventh place finish in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct in November in a race that Disposablepleasure won.
The Cat's All That - took a huge step up in competition in the Davona Dale and finished fifth but before that had a couple of second place finishes at a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races and a win in a Maiden Special Weight race on November 11th.
Zo Impressive - has only two career starts with two wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream on February 25th and a Maiden Special Weight race on January 22nd also at Gulfstream.
Hearts of Red - has won her last two races - an Allowance Optional Claiming on February 8th and a Maiden Claiming race on December 31st, both at Gulfstream. She has only one other third place finish in her other three starts.
And Why Not - will make her first start of the season after a second place finish at the Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs on October 30th and before that a disappointing sixth in the Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland on October 7th. And Why Not has one win in four starts in a Maiden Special Weight at Saratoga last August.
Emma's Encore - has won her last two races, the only two wins of her six race career - a Starter Optional Claiming race on March 14th and a Maiden Special Weight race on February 24th, both at Gulfstream.
