Ami's Mesa Wins Ontario Matron Stakes at Del Mar

The $125,000 G3 Ontario Matron Stakes was run Saturday, July 22 at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto Ontario. Fillies and mares three years old and upward went 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine's All Weather Track. 7-2 second choice Ami's Mesa made quite a statement with a strong stretch run and won by a length in the filed of nine with 23-1 shot Meadow Rose and Midnight Crossing who was sent off at 33-1 dead-heating for the show spot. Galina Point was fourth while Uchenna, 8-5 favorite Minks Aprise, Hot Kiss and Rattataptap completed the order of finish. Moonlit Promise scratched.
