Dubai Sky Wins Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park

Las Vegas, NV - The $550,000 Grade 3 Spiral Stakes went down at Turfway Park in Florence Kentucky on Saturday, March 21 - a 1 1/8 mile Road to the Kentucky Derby points qualifying race. Three Chimneys Farm and Besilu Stable's Dubai Sky won his fourth straight race (second straight stakes) for trainer Bill Mott by an impressive 2 1/4 lengths as the 7-1 fourth choice. Dubai Sky earned 50 points toward the Kentucky Derby and almost assured a starting spot in the top 20 in that race. 4-1 shot Conquest Typhoon finished second with 37-1 longshot Firespike getting up for third. Task Force Glory was two lengths back in fourth with second choice Royal Son, winner of John Battaglia Memorial Stakes, the local prep for the Spiral, in fifth and 9-5 favorite Metaboss sixth. Wireless Future, Another Lemon Drop, Magic of Believing, Big Family and Watchyourownbobber completed the order in the 11 horse field.
