Shaman Ghost Wins Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course
Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York played host to the $600,000 Grade 1 Woodward Stakes on Saturday, September 3. Horses three years old and upward were featured when they took to Saratoga's dirt track and raced 1 1/8 miles. Stronach Stables' Ontario-bred 2015 Queen's Plate winner Shaman Ghost posted the upset win in the field of nine - by just a head at 9-1 odds for his first Grade 1 score. Mubtaahij, who was sent off as the 5-1 second choice finished a razor-close second while overwhelming 2-5 favorite Frosted, who was plagued by a bad start got up for third. Breaking Lucky finished fourth while Tapin Mojo, Catholic Cowboy, Tale of Verve, Bradester, and Samraat completed the order of finish.
