Songbird Wins Alabama Stakes at Saratoga Race Course

Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Spring, New York was the scene of the $600,000 Grade 1 Alabama Stakes on Saturday, August 20. Three year old fillies were featured when they took to Saratoga's dirt track and raced 1 1/4 miles. Unbeaten Fox Hill Farms' filly Songbird did what most expected and easily prevailed - by seven lengths in the field of seven as the overwhelming 1-5 favorite. 12-1 fourth choice Going for Broke finished second while 11-1 third shot Family Tree was third in her Grade 1 debut. Weep No More was fourth while Flora Dora, second choice Go Maggie Go and Dark Nile completed the order of finish.
