Close Hatches Wins Personal Ensign Stakes at Saratoga Race Course
Las Vegas, NV - The $500,000 Grade 1 Personal Ensign Stakes was contested at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York on Friday, August 22. Close Hatches posted her third straight Grade 1 triumph - this time by a relatively easy five lengths on a sloppy track as the 19-10 favorite. In turn, Close Hatches earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Distaff. 15-1 shot Fiftyshadesofhay was a distant second, with the late-running Stanwyck coming on for third. Antipathy was fourth followed by 2-1 second choice Princess of Sylmar, Belle Gallantey, and Majestic River.
