Las Vegas, NV - The $600,000 Grade 1 Alabama Stakes was contested at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday, August 16 - a 1 1/4 mile test for three year old fillies. Even money favorite Stopchargingmaria did what most expected and recorded the relatively easy five length victory with 24-1 shot Joint Return getting in for a very good second place finish. 30-1 outsider Miss Besilu finished third. Fortune Pearl finished fourth and was followed by Got Lucky, America, Catch My Drift, Unbridled Forever, and pacesetter Size, who weakened and finished last in the field of nine sophomore fillies.
