Midnight Storm Wins Shoemaker Mile Stakes at Santa Anita Park

Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California was the scene of the $400,000 Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile Stakes on Saturday, June 4. Horses three years old and upward were featured as they took to Santa Anita's turf track and raced on mile. Last year's runner-up finisher in this race, 9-2 Midnight Storm emerged victorious this year in gate-to-wire fashion and earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Mile. Tourist finished second at 7-2 odds while Twentytwentyvision who was also sent off at 9-2 odds claimed third, another 4 1/4 lengths back. 4-5 favorite Heart to Heart finished a disappointing fourth while Cape Wolfe and Home Run Kitten completed the order of finish.
