Exaggerator Wins Santa Anita Derby at Santa Anita Park

The $1 million Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby was run on a sloppy Santa Anita dirt track on Saturday, April 9 and was the final Road to the Kentucky Derby qualifying race for three year olds on the day. 3-1 third choice Exaggerator seemed to relish the slop and came back from as much as 15 lengths behind to secure an impressive 6 1/4 lengths, earning the 100 qualifying points toward a start in the Run for the Roses. He's assured a starting spot. 7-5 favorite Mor Spirit finished second and gained 40 qualifying points with Uncle Lino getting third and 20 points at 16-1 odds. 8-5 second choice Danzing Candy finished fourth and got 10 points while Diplodocus, Denman's Call, Smokey Image and Iron Rob completed the order of finish. Dressed in Hermes and Rare Candy scratched.
