Illuminant Wins Gamely Stakes at Santa Anita Park

The $300,000 Grade 1 Gamely Stakes was contested Monday, May 30 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Fillies and mares three years old and upward went 1 1/8 miles on Santa Anita's turf track. Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners' 5-1 shot Illuminant took control on the far turn and never looked back en route to her first stakes win. Overwhelming 4-5 favorite Wekeela finished second in the field of nine while Elektrum got in for third at 8-1 odds. Keri Belle was fourth and was followed by Fanticola, Nancy From Nairobi (GB), Dressed to a T and Nashoba's Gold to complete the order of finish. Evo Campo scratched.
