Awesome Baby Wins Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - A tiny field of four three year old fillies lined up in the $200,000 Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California Saturday, January 4. It was the lesser accomplished of the two Bob Baffert entries that provided the upset win - Awesome Baby, ridden by Mike Smith earned the half length triumph at 5-1 odds. Hollywood Starlet runner-up Taste Like Candy, the 6-5 second choice finished second while 4-5 favorite and other Bob Baffert trainee was a disappointing third. Uzziel trailed throughout.
