Fashion Plate Wins Santa Anita Oaks at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $400,000 Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks took place in Arcadia, California on Saturday, April 5 - one of the last major preps for the Kentucky Oaks on May, 2. 2-1 second choice Fashion Plate did what many expected under jockey Gary Stevens and posted her second Grade 1 win in a row this time by 1 1/4 lengths. Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and 6-5 favorite Rio Antonia finished second in her first start for new trainer Bob Baffert while Bajan came up late to claim third. Honey Ride was 1 3/4 lengths farther back in fourth, followed by Arethusa, Artemis, and Smoove It. Kissin Lucky Lips scratched.
