Third choice Customer Base beat out Stormy Lucy who was sent off at 4-1 odds by a nose in a thrilling finish. Irish-bred Gulsary, the 2-1 favorite ridden by Gary Stevens, came up late for third, 2 1/4 lengths behind the first two. Nickels Wild finished fourth, beaten a nose by Gulsary. She was followed by second choice Moone's My Name, Champagneandcaviar, Becky Lou, Appealing, and Playful Humor.
