Utley Wins Dixie Stakes at Pimlico
Las Vegas, NV - The $400,000 Grade 2 Dixie Stakes was contested on Pimlico turf on Saturday, May 17 on the Preakness Stakes undercard. 7-1 fifth choice Utley pulled the minor upset by a length after settling in at the back of the pack for most of the race. Second choice Hey Leroy finished second while Chamois got up for third. Charming Kitten was a neck further back in fourth while Hamp was a close fifth and 5-2 favorite Up With the Birds sixth. Pacesetter Fredericksburg was next, followed by Roadhog, Quick Wit, and Nutello.
