Las Vegas, NV - The $300,000 Dixie Stakes was run on Pimlico turf as part of the Preakness Stakes undercard Saturday, May 18. 24-1 shot and D. Wayne Lukas trained Skyring posted his first victory in 11 starts dating back to May of last year by a half-length over fast-closing Willcox Inn. Second choice on the morning line, D. Wayne Lukas pupil Optimizer finished another head back in third. Howe Great was fourth, followed by Two Months Rent and See Tobe. Doubles Partner and Swift Warrior finished in a dead-heat for seventh, Forte Dei Marmi, Imagining, the 2-1 favorite finished a disappointing tenth, and Humble and Hungry trailed. Thunder Lord and Utley scratched.
