Sheer Drama Wins Madison Stakes at Keeneland

The $300,000 Grade 1 Madison Stakes was contested at Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, April 9. Fillies and mares four years old and upward went seven furlongs on Keeneland's dirt track. Harold Queen's homebred, 8-1 shot Sheer Drama prevailed by a neck in the field of 11 over Breeders' Cup Distaff winner and 2-1 favorite Stopchargingmaria who was second and Wavell Avenue who was two lengths back in third at 4-1 odds. Birdatthewire was fourth followed by Enchanting Lady, Dancing House, Spelling Again, Clothes Fall Off, Sunday Rules, Super Majesty and Fioretti to complete the order of finish. Cavorting and Thirteen Arrows scratched.
