Curlin's Approval Wins Hurricane Bertie Stakes at Gulfstream Park

The $100,000 G3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes was contested Saturday, January 28 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Fillies and mares four years old and upward were featured when they took to Gulfstream's dirt track and raced seven furlongs. Happy Alter's homebred Curlin's Approval proved best on the day, emerging by 2 1/2 lengths as the 4-5 favorite. 2-1 second choice Genre stumbled at the start but still finished a quality second with 23-1 longshot Distinta getting in for third in the field of seven. Bodacious Babe was fourth followed by You Bought Her, Improv, and Linda Linda to complete the order of finish. Sugar Cone scratched.
