Itsaknockout Wins Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $400,000 Grade 2 Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth Stakes was contested at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida on Saturday, February 21 and was characterized by a somewhat controversial ending. 4-5 favorite Upstart was disqualified to second after crossing the line first, allowing Todd Pletcher trained 5-1 third choice Itsaknockout to claim first place and the 50 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Derby in May. Upstart wound up second after the Steward's review cited interference in the stretch drive but gathered 20 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby, with late closing Frammento getting up for third. 7-2 second choice frosted was fourth while Gorgeous Bird, Bluegrass Singer, Juan and Bina, and Danny Boy completed the order of finish.
