The $200,000 G2 Best Pal Stakes went down Saturday, August 12 at Del Mar race track in Del Mar, California. Horses two years old took to Del Mar's dirt track and dashed 6 1/2 furlongs. Kaleem Shah's 8-5 race favorite Run Away bided his time and took over in the stretch eventually prevailing by a comfortable 3 1/2 lengths. 20-1 shot Dia de Pago finished a decent second in the field of eight with Fleetwood another 2 1/2 lengths back in third at 10-1 odds. Master Ruler finished fourth, followed by 4-1 Arawak, 9-5 second choice Serengeti, Armour Plate, and An Ocala Ten, to complete the order of finish.
