California Chrome Wins Pacific Classic Stakes at Del Mar Race Track

The biggest race of the weekend - the $1 million Grade 1 Pacific Classic Stakes was run Saturday, August 20 at Del Mar racetrack in Del Mar, California. A terrific field of horses three years old and upward gathered to go 1 1/4 miles on Del Mar's dirt track. To nobody's surprise it was the stellar even-money favorite California Chrome that emerged in easy fashion by five lengths. Three-time champion and 3-1 third choice Beholder raced well but was no match as he finished second in the field of nine with 2-1 second choice Dortmund another 2 1/4 lengths back in third. Hoppertunity finished fourth with Dalmore, Imperative, War Story, Hard Aces and Win the Space completing the order of finish.
