The $250,000 Grade 2 Eddie Read Stakes was contested Sunday, July 17 at Del Mar racetrack in Del Mar, California - a 1 1/8 miles turf race for horses three years old and upward. Venneri Racing and Little Red Feather Racing's 8-5 race favorite Midnight Storm won on Del Mar grass for the fourth time in five career starts. Ashleyluvssugar finished a close second at 5-1 odds in the field of nine while 9-5 second choice Flamboyant edged out Si Sage for third. Finnegans Wake rallied from last to come in fifth, followed by Patentar, Texas Ryano, Ohio, and Bolo, to complete the order of finish.
