Goldencents Wins Pat O'Brien Stakes at Del Mar
Las Vegas, NV - A busy Del Mar hosted the $250,000 Grade 2 Pat O'Brien Stakes on Sunday, August 24. 17-10 second choice Goldencents was much the best on the day, leading wire-to wire and prevailing by a relatively easy 4 1/2 lengths in the seven furlong sprint - in record time for that distance at Del Mar. Goldencents earned an automatic bid into the Breeder's Cup Dirt Mile - a race that he won last year. 3-2 favorite and last year's winner of the Pat O'Brien Fed Biz finished second with Silentio getting in for third. Syndicated finished fourth with Color of Courage, Big Macher, and Indexical completing the finish. Diamond Bachelor was an early scratch.
