Cathryn Sophia Wins Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs
A busy day, Friday, May 7 at Churchill Downs in Lexington, Kentucky was punctuated by the $1 million Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks - a 1 1/8 mile test for some of the best three year old fillies in the land - minus Songbird who was an unfortunate omission due to a fever. It was Cash is King's Cathryn Sophia that took down 13 other entries as the 9-2 co-second choice in the biggest race on the day - by 2 3/4 lengths for her fifth win in six career starts. Land Over Sea who was sent off at 5-1 took second by a neck, while 8-1 shot Lewis Bay claimed third and Go Maggie Go finished just a head farther back in fourth. Mo d'Amour was fifth followed by 5-2 favorite Rachel's Valentina, Weep No More, Dream Dance, Paola Queen, Terra Promessa, Royal Obsession, Venus Valentine, Mokat and Taxable to complete the order of finish. Alternate Entry Dothraki Queen scratched.
