Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs Results
Las Vegas, NV - To absolutely nobody`s surprise, 3-5 favorite Wise Dan raced to a relatively easy 4 3/4 length victory in the $500,000 Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs Saturday in the race that immediately preceded the Kentucky Derby. It was the reigning Horse of the Year`s sixth straight victory and his fifth Grade 1 score in his storied career. Optimizer, who contested the pace with Silver Max, was second by 1 3/4 lengths, with Middie coming up for third. Silver Max was followed by Bim Bam, Slim Shadey, and Jeranimo. Swift Warrior was scratched as was Point of Entry who was 7-5 on the morning line.
