Highway Star Wins Ruffian Stakes at Belmont Park

Belmont Park in Elmont, New York was the scene of the $250,000 G2 Ruffian Stakes on Saturday, May 13 - a one mile dirt test for fillies and mares four years old and upward. It was Chester and Mary Broman owned entries that ruled the day - Highway Star claimed victory as the 5-1 fourth choice with 6-5 favorite Bar of Gold getting in for second. 5-2 second choice High Ridge Road finished 2 1/4-lengths back in third in the short field of five with Verve's Tale claiming fourth and Indulgent fading to last.
