Forever Unbridled Wins Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park
The $400,000 Grade 1 Beldame Stakes was contested Saturday, October 1 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Fillies and mares three years old and upward were featured when they took to Belmont Park's dirt track and raced 1 1/8 miles. Charles Fipke's 3-5 race favorite Forever Unbridled did what most expected and posted the relatively easy win - by 2 1/4 lengths and in turn earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Distaff. 14-1 shot Tiger Ride finished second in the field of seven, 2 3/4 lengths ahead of Penwith who wound up third at 9-1 odds. 7-2 second choice Off the Tracks finished fourth while Going for Broke, Rachel's Temper and Paola Queen completed the order of finish.
