Outwork Wins Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack

Aqueduct's muddy dirt track was the scene of the $1 million Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes on Saturday, April 9 - a 1 1/8 mile Road to the Kentucky Derby test for three year old hopefuls. Mike Repole's 2-1 second choice Outwork made quite a statement holding off 81-1 shot Trojan Nation and Adventist who got in for third at 10-1 odds. Outwork qualified for the Derby with his 100 point haul while Trojan Nation gained 40 qualifying points and Adventist earned 20 valuable points. Matt King Coal was fourth and secured the final 10 points, Shagaf, the 9-5 favorite in the Wood, ran an uninspiring fifth while Tale of S'avall, Flexibility and Dalmore completed the order of finish.
