Samraat Wins Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack
Las Vegas, NV - The $500,000 Grade 2 Gotham Stakes was contested at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York on Saturday March, 1 - a points race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Undefeated 2-1 favorite Samraat earned the hard fought victory and in turn secured the 50 qualifying points to the Derby in the 1 1/16 mile test for three year olds. State rival Uncle Sigh finished a very close second at 7-2 odds as he did in the Withers Stakes on February 1 while In Trouble who was sent off at 9-2 odds got up for third. Financial Mogul, Harpoon, Master Lightning, Deceived, and Extrasexyhippzster completed the order of finish. Monopolize and Classic Giacnroll scratched.
