The $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), run at 1 1/16 miles, sports a quartet of undefeated runners, with Harold Lerner, Magdalena Racing and Nehoc Stables' Simply Ravishing getting a slight edge based on her 6 ¼-length track and distance victory in the "Win and You're In" Alcibiades (G1) on Oct. 2 for trainer Kenny McPeek.

Zedan Racing Stable's Princess Noor could be favored for trainer Bob Baffert, as the daughter of Not This Time is also 3-for-3, with easy wins in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) in September and Santa Anita's "Win and You're In" Chandelier (G1) on Sept. 26, while two other "Win and You're In" Challenge winners have credentials to be top contenders, too.

Siena Farm and trainer Tim Hamm's Dayoutoftheoffice won Belmont's Frizette (G1) on Oct. 10 to improve to 3-for-3, and Albaugh Family Stables' Girl Daddy won the Pocahontas (G3) on Sept. 3 at Churchill for Romans to stay perfect in two starts.

Vequist, who won Saratoga's Spinaway (G1) in September for trainer Butch Reid, also has a strong resume.

Friday's program featuring 2-year-olds has three turf races, which drew a total of 66 pre-entered horses, with 12 of them cross-entered in two races.

CRAZY BEAUTIFUL

Crazy Beautiful has shown remarkable versatility and determination for her young age. In her career debut, she came from off the pace and romped to victory on the Ellis Park turf course July 5. Switched to dirt at Ellis Park a month later, Crazy Beautiful used the same strategy to capture the Runhappy Debutante Stakes despite bumping a rival and weaving in the stretch.

Trainer Kenny McPeek said Crazy Beautiful had always shown promise even before she raced. He promoted her to the graded stakes ranks for her third start where she was the betting favorite in the Pocahontas (G3) at Churchill Downs Sept. 3. Last in the early going, her customary late rally was not good enough to run down front-running Girl Daddy so she settled for the bridesmaid role.

Her connections remained confident and tried her next in Keeneland's Darley Alcibiades Stakes (G1) Oct. 2. Again, Crazy Beautiful was favored and again she was the runner-up to the pacesetter in her final prep before the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).

This time the winner was her own stablemate Simply Ravishing, also trained by McPeek.

"They are both really special fillies," he said. "I kind of hated to run them against each other, but it is a race we are obviously fond of and we felt like we had a heck of a chance with both of them in there."

Crazy Beautiful is a daughter of 2015 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Liam's Map. She was purchased by McPeek as agent at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale for $250,000.

One day after the Alcibiades, McPeek saddled the filly Swiss Skydiver for a spectacular victory in the Preakness Stakes (G1) Oct. 3. McPeek has won more than 1,700 races but never a Breeders' Cup event. Among his 31 previous starters are Juvenile Fillies runners-up Beautician (2009), Dream Empress (2008) and Restless Rider (2018) and third-place finishers Dothraki Queen (2015), Rosalind (2013) and She's a Devil Due (2000).

SIMPLY RAVISHING

Luck and intuition often override science and strategy when breeding Thoroughbreds. Such is the case with Simply Ravishing, who is the product of a forgotten mare and a rookie stallion. In early 2016, breeder Meg Levy heard of a pregnant young mare seeking a home because her owner had stopped paying her board bill at a Lexington farm. Levy said she purchased that mare named Four Wishes for $500 primarily because of her facial expression.

"I thought she had a beautiful eye and, the way she looked to me, I just felt like she was worth giving a home," Levy said in a Thoroughbred Daily News story posted Oct. 9.

Levy sent Four Wishes to New York where that spring after she delivered a Revolutionary colt that was subsequently sold for $8,000 as a yearling. Four Wishes then was bred to first-year stallion Laoban. That resulting filly is Simply Ravishing, who was purchased by co-owner Harold Lerner for $50,000 at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky's October Yearling Sale in 2019. She was consigned under Levy's Lexington-based Bluewater Sales banner.

Simply Ravishing stretched her unbeaten streak to three when she sailed to a 6 ¼-length triumph in the Alcibiades (G1) at Keeneland Oct. 2 to earn an automatic berth to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). The next day her trainer Kenny McPeek saddled the filly Swiss Skydiver for a spectacular victory in the Preakness Stakes (G1).

PRINCESS NOOR

Hall of Fame jockey Victor Espinoza, who became the first jockey in 37 years to win the Triple Crown in 2015 aboard American Pharoah, had the highest of praise for Princess Noor immediately after she romped to victory in the Chandelier Stakes (G2) Sept. 26 at Santa Anita to remain undefeated in three starts.

"She reminds me of other great horses I used to ride like American Pharoah," he said. "I've been riding amazing horses, but as a filly, she's the best one I've ever ridden."

Princess Noor started turning heads even before she raced. At the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s June auction of 2-year-olds, she sizzled two furlongs in :20 1/5 to grab shoppers' attention. Those with the deepest pockets bid her beyond the million-dollar mark until the final bid came at $1.35-million. The price tag was exactly 10 times her original public purchase price at the 2019 Keeneland September yearling sale. But, she lived up to her potential by winning at first asking at Del Mar Aug. 22 and then cruising home to capture the Del Mar Debutante (G1) Sept. 6.

Espinoza credited trainer Bob Baffert and his longtime crew for Princess Noor's achievements.

"It takes a team to have an amazing horse like this," he said. "It creates better energy when you have a good team. When all the team is happy and working together and pushing forward, things work out much better."

Princess Noor campaigns for Saudi businessman and professional Polo player Amr Zedan, who began buying high-priced racing prospects several years ago. She is named for his wife Princess Noor bint Asem of Jordan.

"The plan is a combination of quality and quantity," he said in a Thoroughbred Daily News story. "I realize trying to find diamonds in the rough is a function of getting a batch of them and then picking out the best diamond."
