Carryovers Wednesday in Rainbow 6, Super Hi 5
HALLANDALE BEACH – Newtown Anner Stud’s Royal Squeeze, making his first start since September and first for trainer Ralph Nicks, drove down the stretch under jockey Tyler Gaffalione to win Sunday’s $75,000 Jeblar at Gulfstream Park.A 5-year-old son of Wildcat Heir who finished second in the 2014 In Reality Division of the Florida Sire Stakes, Wildcat Heir covered the Jeblar’s seven furlongs in 1:22.10.
Rated second down the backstretch while Florida Cup winner Tiger Blood set fractions of :22.84 and :45.10, Royal Squeeze took the lead entering the stretch and drove home to a 1 ¾ length victory. Tiger Blood held on for second while Mylute finished third.
Favored Zulu, coming off a second-place finish March 25 in the 1 1/8 mile Skip Away (G3), finished last in the five-horse field.
Racing resumes Wednesday at Gulfstream with a nine-race program with first race 1:15 p.m. The Rainbow 6 will have a carryover of $32,283.31 while the Super Hi 5 carryover will be $7,101.89.
