OZONE PARK, N. Y. - Friday's live racing program at Aqueduct Racetrack will feature an unprecedented $162,853 Pick 5 carryover, the first at a New York Racing Association track since the low-takeout wager's introduction in 2013, as well as a Pick 6 carryover of $21,091.
Ultimately triggered by Because I'm Happy's $29.80 win on a muddy and sealed track in the fifth race, Thursday's Pick 5 sequence also included back-to-back longshot victors, Karen's Silk ($63.50) in Race 2 and Mr Harlan ($30) in Race 3.
Friday's Pick 5, featuring a 50-cent minimum and low takeout of 15 percent, begins with the first race with a scheduled post time of 12:20 p.m. EST and will conclude with Race 5 on the day's nine-race card.
Thursday's Pick 6 sequence, beginning with Race 3 on the eight-race card, returned a $292.50 consolation prize to bettors with four of six winners.
The Pick 6 will get underway on Friday with Race 4 with a scheduled post time of 1:50 p.m. EST and will be anchored by the day's eighth and featured race, a $50,000 allowance event for filly and mare sprinters.
Wagering on the Pick 5 and Pick 6 is available at Aqueduct Racetrack, the Belmont Café, and through NYRA.com.
