HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Gulfstream Park announced today it received a record 5,356 applications for the 3,800 stalls available at Gulfstream, Palm Meadows and Gulfstream Park West for its Championship Meet.
The Championship Meet, which begins Dec. 6, will feature 67 stakes races - 37 graded - with purses totaling a record $11.25 million.
Those applying for stalls included Todd Pletcher, Gulfstream's leading trainer the past 11 years, Nick Zito, Bill Mott, Shug McGaughey, Mike Maker, Kiaran McLaughlin, Tom Albertrani, Chad Brown, Michael Matz, Eddie Plesa Jr., Eddie Kenneally, Graham Motion, Ian Wilkes, Ralph Nicks, Kelly Breen, Malcolm Pierce, David Fawkes, Wesley Ward, Barclay Tagg, Christophe Clement, David Jacobson, Wayne Catalano, Marty Wolfson, Ken McPeek and Gustavo Delgado.

"We've planned ahead for the Championship Meet by refurbishing the main track at Palm Meadows, doing extensive renovations to barns at Gulfstream Park West, and now working on the turf course and main track at Gulfstream Park. Obviously, we'll do everything we can to accommodate as many horsemen as possible. Their support, along with our record stakes schedule, the prestigious Eclipse Awards and world-renowned Fasig-Tipton Selected 2-year-olds in Training Sale, will make the Championship Meet truly spectacular."
