Wilshire Handicap at Hollywood Park
Las Vegas, NV - Betfair Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California will play host to the Grade 3 Wilshire Handicap this Sunday, April 28. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will take center stages as they race one mile on Hollywood Park's turf track for a purse of $100,000.

2013 Wilshire Handicap Race Favorites
Halo Dolly - had seven wins in 12 races in 2012 including the minor Miss America Stakes in October and he best result - a win in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Del Mar on September 3. Other wins include the minor Solana Beach Handicap, the Alameda County Fillies and Mares Stakes and the Fran's Valentine Stakes in her only start on this track. Her last two starts have also come on this track - a third last time out in the minor Golden Poppy Stakes as heavy favorite April 7 followed a third in an Allowance in March after a couple of off the board finished in two starts prior - a fourth in the Grade 3 Robert J. Frankel and a sixth in the minor Valentine Dancer at Santa Anita in January. She is the most accomplished of the entries and the one to beat Sunday.
Purim's Dancer - Thomas Proctor trained filly made her graded stakes debut after with a third place finish last time out in the Grade 3 Las Cienegas Stakes at Santa Anita April 13 after four wins in last five starts - the restricted Wishing Well Stakes at Santa Anita by 3 1/4 lengths February 10, an Allowance Optional Claiming January 18, a Starter Claiming in October and a MSW in September. Her only two career blemishes came last time out with that respectable third and in her debut and in December - an Allowance at Hollywood Park. She has four wins and two third place finishes in seven career starts and has won four of five starts on turf - she has to be on the radar for the Wilshire.

Byrony - Irish bred 5-year-old started 2012 off hot for trainer John Sadler but cooled off to a pair of sixths in a pair of Grade 2 races - the Goldikova in November and the Yellow Ribbon in September. She had a third in an Allowance in November and a second in the Megahertz Stakes January 19 before an ugly eighth in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes February 18 at Santa Anita. Last time out was an OK third in the minor American Beauty Stakes at Santa Anita April 7. Both of her wins in the States have come on turf and she has placed in five of her last eight starts with no wins over that span.
Moone's My Name - John Sadler trained British bred mare had six wins, three seconds and three third place finishes in 17 career starts at home before debuting in North America last time out and finishing second by a neck in the minor American Beauty Stakes on this track April 7. She had a win at Newmarket October 6 at the Wilshire distance.

Long Face - won an Allowance Optional Claiming race in July and then suffered a sixth in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks and a seventh in the Torrey Pines Stakes in September. She was fifth in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes February 18 after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Santa Anita January 18 and last time out finished just off the board - a fourth in the Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes at Santa Anita March 24.
Esentepe - Irish bred filly and Jerry Hollendorfer trainee had two wins, three seconds and six third place finishes in 16 starts overseas before shipping to North America where she has two starts resulting in a second last time out in an Allowance March 29 and a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming March 14 - both results at Santa Anita.
Nobilis - raced in North America for the first time last time out and finished a reasonable second behind The Only Key in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita April 5. Prior to her arrival in America she had a win, a second and a third place finish in eight career starts but departed France off a ninth in the Grade 3 Prix de Flore at Saint Cloud in October.
Little Emily - was fifth in the minor American Beauty Stakes at Santa Anita April 7 after winning three of her previous five races - an Allowance Optional Claiming two back in October, the minor Las Madrinas Handicap in September and a Starter Allowance at Del Mar in August. The Robert Leonard trained mare has 13 career starts with four wins and two second place finishes and outside of a couple of off the board finishes in a pair of minor stakes races, he's looked OK.
